Jonathan Glazer’s cult British crime drama ‘Sexy Beast’ is set to get the small screen treatment, with Deadline hearing word that Anonymous Content and Paramount Television are in development on a prequel series.
Directed by Glazer (‘Birth,’ ‘Under the Skin’) from a script by Louis Mellis and David Scinto (‘Gangster No.1’), the 2000 film starred Ray Winstone as Gary ‘Gal’ Dove, an ex-con and expert safe-cracker whose idyllic retirement is disrupted when psychopathic crime boss Don Logan (played by the awesome Ben Kingsley) asks, nay demands, that he do one more job. The film co-starred Amanda Redman as Dove’s beloved ex–porn star wife DeeDee and Ian McShane as crime lord Teddy Bass.
With Michael Caleo (‘The Sopranos,’ ‘The Family,’ ‘Rescue Me’) on board to shape the series, the series will track the origin story of Gal, Don, and Teddy.
