Pair will lead the 1920s-set musical feature…
Multiple outlets are reporting that Rooney Mara (‘Pan,’ ‘Trash’) and Dane DeHaan (‘Life Afer Beth,’ ‘Tulip Fever’) are teaming up for ‘Ziggy,’ a musical feature that will mark the directorial debut of Baz Luhrmann’s protégé Diesel Schwarze.
DeHaan will portray a hunchback escape artist who arrives in New York during the mass-culture boom of the late 1920s and falls in love with the fiancé (Mara) of a powerful media mogul. The story charts Ziggy’s rise to fame and subsequent fall amid a romantic world crashing down on its own idealism.
British music producer and songwriter Alex Da Kid is working with Schwarze to develop original contemporary music for the project.
Lynette Howell and Jamie Patricof of Electric City Entertainment are on board to produce.
