‘Blockers’ writer-director Kay Cannon is to take the helm for a musical retelling of the classic fairy tale ‘Cinderalla’ with a cast that includes Navan legend Pierce Brosnan, multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter Camila Cabello, Idina Menzel, Billy Porter and Nicholas Galitzine.
Based on an original idea by James Corden, who is also on board as producer, the film reimagines the traditional Cinderella story in which the heroine is an ambitious young woman whose dreams are bigger than the world will allow.
According to THR, Cabello will take the lead, with Porter as her fairy godmother and Menzel as the evil stepmother. Galitzine will take on the role of Prince Robert, while Brosnan will play his father.
Leo Pearlman, Corden’s partner at Fulwell 73 will co-produce, alongside Jonathan Kadin, Shannon McIntosh and Louise Rosner.
