Michelle Williams (‘Manchester By The Sea,’ ‘Wonderstruck’) is reportedly in talks to take the female lead opposite Tom Hardy in Sony’s eagerly awaited ‘Venom’ movie.
The Ruben Fleischer-directed project, which also has Riz Ahmed (‘Night Of,’ ‘Rogue One’) attached to star, will be a standalone and play no part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Per Variety, Williams would be taking the role of “a district attorney and possibly Hardy’s love interest.”
Considered one of Spidey’s greatest enemies, Venom made his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #300. The character is an alien symbiote who requires a host to bond with for its survival. After bonding, the symbiote gives his host body incredible powers.
Scott Rosenberg (‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,’ ‘Gone in Sixty Seconds’) and Jeff Pinkner (‘The Dark Tower,’ ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’) are providing the script, with Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal producing. The team are aiming for ‘Venom’ to hit cinemas October 2018.
