‘Anchorman’ and ‘The Big Short’ director Adam McKay has been tapped to direct a big screen outing of the Boom! Comics title ‘Irredeemable.’
Created by Mark Waid, the comic follows the fall of the world’s greatest superhero, the Plutonian, as he begins slaughtering the population of Earth. His former allies, the superhero group The Paradigm, attempt to find a way to stop his rampage while dealing with their own problems of betrayal and hopelessness. The comic ran between 2009 and 2012 for a total of 37 issues.
Writer-director Tommy Wirkola (‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’) is writing the script. Ross Richie and Stephen Christy of Boom! Studios will produce, along with McKay and Gary Sanchez partner Kevin Messick.
