Tonya Hurley’s book series heading to the big screen…
‘X-Men: First Class’ and ‘Kick-Ass’ director Matthew Vaughn and his production banner, Marv Films, have acquired the feature film rights to author and filmmaker Tonya Hurley’s bestselling series of ‘Ghostgirl’ books.
The first book in the series was published in 2008. It centres on Charlotte Usher, a high school senior and misfit outsider whose desperation to be popular lives on even after her sudden death – choking on a Gummy Bear.
Vaughn will produce the adaptations with marketing-executive-turned-producer Valerie Van Galder.
“I am beyond thrilled to have ‘Ghostgirl’ in the hands of such creative, capable and passionate filmmakers,” said Hurley. “I’m a raging Matthew Vaughn fan and I look forward to working with him, Val, and the whole team at Marv. Tonya spent those five years telling Charlotte Usher’s story in five separate books, building a passionate and dedicated fan base who are now eagerly awaiting this next chapter in Charlotte’s afterlife.”
