Variety has word that Margot Robbie has entered into talks to join Saoirse Ronan for the Josie Rourke-directed period drama ‘Mary Queen of Scots.’
Featuring a script by Michael Hirst (‘Vikings,’ ‘The Tudors’) and Penelope Skinner (‘How I Live Now’), the drama is based on the true story of Mary Stuart’s attempt to overthrow her cousin Elizabeth I, Queen of England, only to find her condemned to years of imprisonment before facing execution.
Carlow native Ronan will take on the title role of Mary Stuart, with ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ star playing Queen Elizabeth.
Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Liza Chasin of London-based Working Title are producing.
