Aussie actress reportedly playing the “Maiden of Mischief.”
The good folk over at Collider are hearing that Margot Robbie, best known for her role as Naomi Lapaglia in Martin Scorcese’s ‘The Wolf of Wall Street,’ has scored the highly coveted role of Harley Quinn in David Sayer’s ‘Suicide Squad.’
News of the Australian actress’ involvement comes hot on the heels of rumours that ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ Oscar-winner and 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto is being lined up to play the Joker, Harley’s beloved Mr. J.
Harley Quinn was first introduced in the ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ where she served as the Joker’s humorous partner-in-crime. The loveable “Clown Princess” starts out as a psychiatrist named Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel who becomes obsessed with the Joker’s case, eventually falling in love with him and fighting by his side. Harley became an instant fan-favourite, quickly becoming an important part of the DC Universe.
Set for release in 2016, ‘Suicide Squad’ is based on the DC Comic books and focuses on a team of supervillains who are given a second chance by the government for redemption. The catch: their mission will probably kill them all.
