Sequel moving forward with new director…
Swiss filmmaker Marcel Langenegger (‘Deception’) has entered into talks to take the helm of Relativity Media’s long-delayed sequel to ‘The Strangers.’
Per TheWrap, Ben Ketai (‘Chosen,’ ’30 Days of Night: Dark Days’) is attached to pen the tale of “a family on the verge of sending their troubled teenage daughter to boarding school as they embark on one last family trip to a mobile home park that their uncle runs.” However their trip turns to horror when they discover the bodies of their aunt and uncle, fresh from a recent visit from the titular Strangers — Man in the Mask, Pin Up Girl and Dollface.
Roy Lee, Doug Davison, Nathan Kahane and Trevor Macy are returning to produce the sequel, with Sonny Mallhi, Marc Evans and Joe Drake serving as executive producers.
The original, written and directed by Bryan Bertino, was a sleeper hit, taking in $82 million worldwide on a reported production budget of $9 million. It starred Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman.
