Aubrey Plaza (‘Parks and Recreation,’ ‘Dirty Grandpa’) and Elizabeth Olsen (‘Captain America: Civil War,’ ‘I Saw the Light’) are attached to star in the indie dark comedy ‘Ingrid Goes West,’ says Variety.
With Matt Spicer directing from a script he co-wrote with David Branson Smith, the indie follows Ingrid Thorburn (Plaza), a mentally unstable young woman who becomes obsessed with Taylor Sloane (played by Olsen), a social media “influencer” with a seemingly-perfect life. When Ingrid decides to drop everything and move to the West Coast to befriend Taylor in real life, her behaviour turns unsettling and increasingly dangerous.
Plaza will produce the project with Jared Ian Goldman, Tim and Trevor White of Star Thrower Entertainment, and 141 Entertainment’s Adam and Robert Mirels.
Spicer, who makes his feature directorial debut with ‘Ingrid Goes West,’ was recently announced as the writer for Disney’s ‘The Rocketeer’ sequel/reboot.
