Film now titled ‘Rings.’
Italian actress Matilda Lutz (‘The Fifth Wheel,’ ‘Fuoriclasse’) has scored the female lead in the upcoming next chapter in the popular ‘Ring’ franchise, reports TheWrap.
With F. Javier Gutiérrez behind the camera, ‘Rings’ will once again see the vengeful ghost Samara (played by Daveigh Chase in the originals) and a deadly videotape scaring the bejesus out of people.
Laurie MacDonald and Walter Parkes, who produced the previous films, are on board for the reboot.
A remake of Hideo Nakata’s 1998 Japanese horror film ‘ Ringu,’ which was based on the novel Ring by Kôji Suzuki, the first film in the English-language series starred Naomi Watts, and was directed by Gore Verbinski. It grossed $249 million worldwide with the 2005 sequel, directed by Nakata, pulling in $160 million worldwide.
