By Grabthar’s hammer! The suits at Paramount Television have set in motion plans to bring the cult 1999 sci-fi comedy ‘Galaxy Quest’ to the small screen.
Directed by Dean Parisot, the film centred on the alumni cast of a long cancelled Star Trek-style television series who now make their living showing up at fan conventions, shopping mall openings, and doing amateur theatricals. The washed up stars – played by Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Daryl Mitchell, and Sam Rockwell – become reluctant real space heroes when they are accidentally transported to a spaceship and tasked with saving an alien nation.
Parisot, along with the original film’s writers Robert Gordon and David Howard are in talks to produce the series, with Deadline hearing that Gordon will also serve as writer.
