Loosely based on the short novel ‘The Gambler’ by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Jim Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) is a college literature professor with a gambling addiction that begins to spiral out of control. When he’s lost all his money, he borrows from his friends, then his family and finally some bad guys. Despite of all this he cannot stop gambling.
