‘Edge of Tomorrow’ helmer Doug Liman is in “final negotiations” to take the director’s chair for the superhero outing ‘Gambit,’ according to THR.
Channing Tatum is attached to lead the X-Men spinoff, with ‘Spectre’ and ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ actress Léa Seydoux circling the role of the card-throwing mutant’s love interest, Bella Donna Boudreaux.
Liman would be replacing ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ director Rupert Wyatt, who exited the project back in September.
Filmmakers believed to have been on the studio’s shortlist include Joe Cornish (‘Attack The Block’), Shane Black (‘Iron Man 3’) and ‘Straight Outta Compton’ helmer F. Gary Gray.
