‘Preacher’ series finds its leads…
Dominic Cooper (‘Captain America: The First Avenger,’ ‘The Devil’s Double’) is, according to TheWrap, close to landing the lead role in ‘Preacher,’ the small screen adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s cult comic series.
Cooper will play Reverend Jesse Custer, a conflicted preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says.
Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (played by Ethiopian-Irish actress Ruth Negga), and a rowdy Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), the three embark on a journey to literally find God.
Lucy Griffiths (‘Constantine,’ ‘True Blood,’ ‘Robin Hood’) also stars, playing Emily Woodrow, a no-nonsense, single mother. Ian Colletti (‘Rake,’ ‘Phoebe in Wonderland’) will take role of Eugene Root, aka Arseface. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (‘This is the End’) are behind the camera for pilot, and will also produce the comic book project.
