Finally! “The Merc With A Mouth” gets a release date…
20th Century Fox and Marvel have set February 12th, 2016 as the release date for the long-in-development ‘Deadpool’ movie.
Visual effects genius and Blur Studios head honcho Tim Miller remains attached to direct, with Ryan Reynolds starring as the beloved “Merc with a Mouth.”
A tease of Miller’s proof of concept reel for a proposed Deadpool movie “leaked” back in July. The 8-minute CGI clip, with voice work and motion-capture performance from Reynolds, proved a Deadpool movie could work.
Commenting on the leak, Reynolds told Niagara Falls Review, “The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, ‘Oh, so we weren’t crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.’ It’s interesting to see the power of the Internet. It’s awe-inspiring, actually. And it’s neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way.”
