The long rumoured sequel to Eddie Murphy’s hit comedy ‘Coming to America’ is officially in the works, with THR confirming that original scribes Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield are scripting.
Directed by John Landis, the 1988 original starred Murphy as an extremely pampered African prince who travels to Queens, New York City, to escape an arranged marriage and find a wife who will love him in spite of his title.
Plot details of the sequel are being kept under wraps, and it is not yet known if Murphy will reprise his role of Prince Akeem Joffer. Kevin Misher (‘Carrie,’ ‘Public Enemies’) is on board to produce.
