Irish star Colin Farrell (‘True Detective,’ ‘The Lobster,’ ‘Saving Mr Banks’) has become the latest addition to the upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,’ joining a cast that includes Eddie Redmayne (‘The Theory of Everything’), and Katherine Waterston (‘Queen of Earth’).
Set in the ‘Harry Potter’ universe, the fantasy tale takes place 70 years before the adventures of the boy wizard and centres on Newt Scamander, the Wizarding World’s preeminent magizoologist, who in his travels has encountered and documented a myriad of magical creatures.
THR has Farrell taking on the role of Graves, a wizard that Redmayne’s protagonist meets in New York. Ezra Miller (‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’), Alison Sudol (‘Dig’), and Dan Fogler (‘Fanboys’) also recently came on board the project.
David Yates is behind the camera with the script coming from J.K. Rowling. Steve Kloves, David Heyman, and Lionel Wigram are on board to produce.
