Visual effect specialist to helm the fantasy flick…
That didn’t take long. Multiple outlets are reporting that Cedric Nicolas-Troyan has been tapped to replace Frank Darabont behind the camera for ‘The Huntsman,’ Universal Pictures’ follow-up/prequel to ‘Snow White and the Huntsman.’
Little is known regarding the plot of the film beyond that the film serve as a prequel of sorts, revealing how the two characters of the Huntsman Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and Ravenna (Charlize Theron) intersected before the arrival of Snow White (played by Kristen Stewart in the first film).
As revealed earlier this week, Hemsworth and Theron will reprise their roles, with Emily Blunt is in talks for a role.
Nicolas-Troyan’s is newcomer to first unit directing, but has made a name for himself working as a second unit director and visual effects supervisor. His credits include ‘Maleficent,’ ‘The Ring,’ ‘One Hour Photo,’ and ‘Snow White and the Huntsman,’ for which he was nominated for an Oscar for the visual effects. The French filmmaker was previously linked to a big screen reboot of the ‘Highlander’ franchise.
