Bradley Cooper is reportedly looking to reunite with his ‘American Sniper’ director Clint Eastwood for ‘The Mule,’ Eastwood’s next directorial effort that he also plans to star in.
Per Variety, the project is based on Sam Dolnick’s 2014 New York Time feature about Earl Stone (Eastwood), a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough but, unbeknownst to Earl, he’s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. Earl also finds himself hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates (Cooper).
In addition to directing and starring, Eastwood will also produce the feature through Malpaso Productions, along with Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas of Imperative Entertainment. Ruben Fleischer, Dave Bernad and Todd Hoffman are on board to serve as executive producers.
