Pegg and Frost are lost without director Edgar Wright. The story is basic and predictable which could be forgiving if the movie was funny, but it has very few laughs. Didnt enjoy it much, even with all the cool cameos and supporting cast. Very glad its not part of the cornetto trilogy as its just not funny or good enough.

Let Me In

If you loved the original film or the book, you will really like this. I really enjoyed it. Its pretty much a shot for shot remake with a few little things changed but the source material is so amazing that this remake deserves to be seen. Reeves does well directing his young cast, giving fantastic performances and bringing there own to the roles. There is only a couple of CGI scenes, and i quite liked them. The atmosphere and tension are all present. For an american remake that wasnt needed, this is fantastic stuff. Really, go see it and also if ya can, read the book or get the original film on dvd, there amazing.

Jackass 3D

I have always loved Jackass. I always thought they were much more fun than the likes of Dirty Sanchez. I think i like the characters. Loved the 1st movie. 2nd movie was better. But this is something else. This pushes the bar for these guys. The gags will make you gag. The giant high five. Classic. Pig eating an apple from Preston. Disgusting. The Rocky jokes throughout the movie are fantastic. Theres are so many funny moments, i havent laughed like that since i saw The Hangover. Knoxville is always laughing his head off, and you cant help but laugh with him. The 3D in this film is great but not essential. So when it comes out on dvd/Blu Ray it will still be hilarious to watch in 2D. If you wanna laugh your ass off, go see this film.

The Social Network

When i heard Fincher was directing a movie about Facebook, i didnt know what to expect. I didnt know what it would be about. But this is a very stylish film with brilliant performances all round. For me Garfield was the standout. I look forward to seeing more of him, great actor. The music by Trent Reznor is outstanding. Dark and thrilling. Its interesting to see how the worlds biggest social network came about. But in the end i really had a hate for Mark Zuckerberg, Jesse Eisenbergs character and founder of Facebook. This is a fantastic film.

Paranormal Activity 2

I didnt really like the 1st part and i really hated this too. Its more of the same just with a bit of back story, telling you what the Demons purpose is etc. Its as boring as the first and just silly and unoriginal. I dont get why people enjoyed these films. Not good at all.

Buried

Buried is a movie that can actually call itself original. With all the remakes, reboots, sequels and what not that Hollywood is churning out, its nice to see an original idea put on screen. Remember when Phonebooth came out, all the hype about it confined to just a phonebooth. And it wasnt really. This is in fact actually just Ryan Reynolds in a coffin for 90 or so minutes. With slick camera work to keep things going and interesting and a fantastic performance from Reynolds, this is a must see. The storyline thats being told is also quite scary and the ending will leave you breathless. Fantastic. Go see it.

Thor

Thor is pretty epic. Brannagh did a stand up job bringing the magical world and the science world together. The special effects are fantastic and the scale of Asgard is huge. Looks great on screen. Hemsworth is Thor. He is brilliant. The comedy in the movie is timed perfectly. Shield is in the film but Thor is a Thor film. It doesnt do an Irom Man 2 and set up The Avengers. The first 30 minutes is set in Asgard and you get to know the Asgardians and the characters. The cast are all great in their roles and Hopkins eats up the screen as Odin. For a film that many people thought would be hard to film, this is a nice benchmark for Marvel. The cameo midway through was a little pointless and the post credits scene could have been better. My only flaw really with the film is the 3D. I didnt get much of a kick from it and didnt think it was needed. But Thor is very enjoyable and you should see it.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Scott Pilgrim is Amazing. Edgar Wright hits it out of the park with spectacular visuals and a script so sharp it would give Diablo Cody a heart attack. Cera fits Pilgrim so naturally and Culkin is on flying form. He is gonna be massive after this. The 7 Exe's are hilarious, especially Routh and Evans. Those guys need to be more famous their that good. The whole movie made me feel great reminding me of classic fighting games and mixing it with great anime. I honestly havent enjoyed a movie this much in ages. I walked out with a big childish smile on my face. Love it and will see it again.

The Last Exorcism

So i went to this hesitating it due to my lack of love for Paranormal Activity. This is quite a good movie. Again i think the whole camera footage thing has been overdone in recent years. When you look at the like of Cloverfield or Rec, thats how it should be done. The story here is quite familiar as with all excorcism films, except the pirest here is trying to prove that exorcisms are fake. And ofcourse he is wrong and all hell breaks loose. I liked the whole Wicker Man Vibe and the look of the exorcisms but still if it had been done like a normal film i think i would have liked it better. Its quite creepy but nothing really new to bring to a dying genre. Interesting watch though.

The Expendables

If you loved cheesy 80's action films with bad but fun dialogue then you are gonna love this. Stallone stepping up once again to the directors chair, not taking himself or the film too serious, he delivers on all counts. the action is bigger than big, the dialogue- cheesier than a pizza and the story/ premise as ludicrous as you would expect. But in a good way. I loved this film. The only thing that let me down was the climax at the end. Its big but a bit of a mess, but this isnt about good film making. This is about embracing all the good things about those films through the 80s and 90s. Great to see Lundgren on screen again. All the characters mix well. Good cameos too, Bruce Willis steals it from an old looking Arnie. Cant wait for the sequel. Hopefully they will get Van Damme and Seagal to be in it. Basically if you want a fun night at the movies and wanna see bad guys being blown up, go see it. Take it with a pinch of salt and you will love it.

Inception

Nolan ups his game even further with Inception. Its refreshing to see a mega budget summer blockbuster thats an original script and not part of a franchise/ not an adaption of a book or a comic and not a sequel. Warners were very smart indeed in letting Nolan do his thing. Very interesting story with very intiguing characters. All the cast give excellent performances. Leo is fantastic. Its been a great year for him with this added to Shutter Island. Tom Hardy was a stand out for me. I cant wait to see him as Mad Max. He's a very promising and funny actor. The plot for Inception is not overly complicated. Nolan is smart enough to keep you guessing but pacing the way so the audience can keep up. The effects and cinematography in the film are absolutely amazing. And finally the music in the film is excellent and mind melting. It goes very well with the movie. Basically Inception is what Nolan had in his mind. He has 100% put it on the screen. He doesnt hold back with anything. A fantastic original film with familiar tones. People will be talking about there theories about thending for ages. Which isnt a bad thing. Movie fans have to see this.

Predators

The premise for Predators is very exciting. Being a straight sequel to the 1st was a smart move ignoring the last 2 disgracful movies. Seeing the predators in action is always great fun and the world the characters are dropped into is also very cool. The characters do what they can for the little screen time they have. Brody is very much going against type here but actually pulls it off with a macho performance. Lawrence Fishburne on the other hand gives a very strange performance for the few minutes he is it. The only problem with Predators is, it wasnt govin the amount of money it needed to make it what its trying to be. Great references to the original and nice welcoming return to form for a fading franchise. Hopefully the sequel will be givin enough benjamins to up the action and effects.
