OUIJA Adds Douglas Smith and Olivia Cooke

Young stars join the horror tale…

Douglas Smith (‘Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters,’ ‘Big Love’) and British actress Olivia Cooke, best known for her role as quirky Emma Decody in ‘Bates Motel,’ have landed the leads in Universal’s horror ‘Ouija.’

The low-budget feature, inspired by the Hasbro board game, is set to begin filming next week and centres on a group of friends attempting to make contact with a recently deceased classmate through an Ouija board who awaken a dark and terrifying presence.

According to THR, Cooke will play “a girl who discovers that her dead friend had been messing around with a Ouija board and brings the game home. Smith is the dead girl’s boyfriend, who may know more about her death than he lets on.”

Daren Kagasoff (‘The Secret Life Of The American Teenager’) is on board for a supporting role.

Special effects artist-turned-screenwriter-turned-director Stiles White is behind the camera for the long-in-development project, working from a script he co-wrote with his wife and writing partner Juliet Snowden (‘The Possession,’ ‘Knowing’).
